Why are divorce showers not a thing?

Updated: Jan 2, 2022

When a couple gets married, they have a bridal shower, or sometimes a couple shower.

Welcoming a new baby? Have a baby shower!

These celebrations exist primarily for the purpose of “showering” someone you love with gifts to help them prepare for a major life milestone. It’s usually a gathering of all the people in your life who love you and want to cheer you on. Sometimes there are silly games and goofy prizes, maybe even cleverly named beverages.

I can think of no better occasion that requires a “shower” than a #divorce. Let’s start a tradition. If you know someone going through a divorce, create a minute of joy for them and throw them a party. They likely need to replace half of the things in their home. They may be facing financial stress, in which case gift cards and/or cash could go a long way to improving their situation. And they DEFINITELY need a laugh and the love of their family and friends. Silly games and goofy drinks might just be the ticket.

Share your #divorceshower games, food and décor ideas in the comments. Let’s make this a thing!
